KAZAK CULTURE AND NATURE
Between 1995 and 1998, several expeditions were launched from CERS Dunhuang Center in China’s northwest to conduct research on the wildlife of the Qilian Mountains.  The site was adjacent to the Aksay Kazak community, so the results were used to help the local people design future conservation and land use plans, especially for the promotion of ecotourism. CERS documented several important species at the western extremity of the Qilian Mountains.  Two television programs were subsequently made by CCTV of Beijing.
